After an arduous journey by overnight train and long, bumpy van ride, we arrived in Svaneti, a region of the Republic of Georgia surrounded by huge mountain peaks. The region is inhabited by the Svans and is known for the stone watchtowers that fill the villages and for the recent wave of banditry. I wrote a story about my trip to Svaneti on TheExpeditioner.
