Cambodia Heritage Tour
Witness the breathtaking temples at Angkor, the haunting history of the Khmer Rouge, and some of the friendliest people in Asia
25 March – 2 April 2016
(8 days & 8 nights)
The breathtaking temples and ruins of Angkor may be the main attraction, but Cambodia’s interesting history, charming villages, colorful markets, and genuinely friendly locals are what make Cambodia a unique travel destination. This specially designed itinerary will introduce you to Cambodia’s exotic history, dark past, and promising future.
Day 1-3: Phnom Penh
The capital city of Cambodia is an interesting mix of Indo-China charms, modern development, friendly locals, street food galore, and vibrant albeit chaotic traffic. Here we will have an introduction to Cambodia’s glorious past at the Royal Palace and the National Museum. On our second day, we will discover its recent disturbing past at the Killing Fields and the Genocide Museum. And on our final day we will pay a visit to a local NGO and witness (and help in) their effort in providing the less fortunate a better future in this fast developing country.
Day 4-7: Siem Reap
Siem Reap is the gateway to the hundreds of ruins and temples in the UNESCO World Heritage Site of Angkor Archaeological Park. We will have three days to explore some of these incredible temples, such as the famous Angkor Wat, the hundred-faces Bayon, Ta Prohm (a.k.a Lara Croft temple), and many more. In the late afternoon and evening you can unwind at the many cafes and restaurants in Siem Reap, as well as enjoying relaxing massages.
Day 7: Tonle Sap Lake
After you are all “templed out”, we will spend a half day out on the water among the floating and fishing villages of Tonle Sap. And watch the sun set over the water. We will then return to Siem Reap for a farewell dinner.
Day 8: Departure day
The tour ends after breakfast in Siem Reap.
