Lake Matheson New Zealand
The drive between Franz Josef to Queenstown, New Zealand, offers some of the most spectacular scenery. The entire ride was a series of rolling mountain peaks, deep-blue glacial lakes, a landscape of rain forests and crystal clear waterfalls, and many more interesting and beautiful landscapes. Especially Lake Matheson in the Westland National Park is famous for picture-perfect reflected views of Mount Cook (Aoraki) and Mount Tasman, and a home to many water birds. It is a must-do attraction for any visitors who do the glacier walk on Franz Josef and Fox Josef Glacier (which is highly recommended). Winding through the forest by a walkway is a great way to enjoy the gorgeous vistas around the lake.
